We have the necessary expertise within our focus areas in our R&D organization covering preclinical as well as clinical phases of drug development. Innovative pre-clinical development and extensive experience from clinical development of pharmaceuticals, particularly protein pharmaceuticals, are core capabilities and competencies within Sobi. This is essential in order to take orphan and specialty pharmaceuticals to the market, and to deliver valuable products as well as product support to our patients and customers.
In line with our overall strategy, we are now focusing our R&D efforts on protein pharmaceuticals for rare disease patients with high unmet medical needs. To optimize the opportunities of developing new products, we are pursuing active partnering as well as internal R&D.
Our research portfolio is aimed primarily at the areas of hematological diseases, prevention of growth restriction in premature infants, autoimmune diseases, hereditary metabolic disorders and therapeutic oncology. For more information on our development pipeline, please follow this link. Our pre-clinical development focuses on autoimmune diseases/inflammation and inherited metabolic disorders.
In addition to developing new products, we are also investing in life-cycle management and product support to further improve the medical and commercial value of our marketed products.
Strong background in protein pharmaceutical process development
Sobi has a strong background and experience in protein drug process development and production dating back to the first recombinant drug product in Sweden.
Preclinical and clinical material is manufactured using in-house capabilities or contract manufacturers. The manufacture of development material requires a high level of experience, technical expertise and flexibility. Our multi-purpose and state-of-the-art pilot plants are used for microbial fermentation, mammalian cell cultivation and protein purification. A seamless workflow between disciplines and departments within our company ensures high quality, cost effectiveness and delivery to projects on schedule.
